Our customer's heirloom emerald and diamond ring was in need of some tender loving care. Our jeweler, Steve, restored it to look like it did in the 1920's!

Determining the right ring size for you or a loved one is one of the most challenging parts of buying or designing a ring. There are many factors that can slightly change the size of your ring, making it too snug (or maybe even too loose). Some people have heard that a woman’s ring size is the same as her shoe size. This is not simply not true!

Priscilla’s original ring was a birthstone ring for November--a gold ring curved like a figure eight set with two gems that the family believed to be topaz--the traditional birthstone of November. “Actually, when we brought it into Plante Jewelers, we found out that they aren’t topaz, they’re yellow sapphires,” she remarks

“It was seven years since my husband passed. I’d stopped wearing my wedding ring. Basically,I wanted to do something with the diamond so that I could wear it again.” Eileen’s original engagement ring was essentially a simple and classic style--a single large diamond set in a gold ring. “I had it for at least 34 years,” Eileen recalls. “The piece is probably about sixty years old,” says Ellen Jennings. But looking at the ring Plante Jewelers crafted for her, you wouldn’t know it. This piece of custom jewelry is white and yellow gold with a constellation of small diamonds arranged in the center around a single central gemstone. The new ring is fascinatingly ornate, yet has a practical shape and a pleasingly simple symmetry of design. “I didn’t want a plain ordinary ring,” said Ellen. “I wanted something where I put it on and people say ‘Oh my God!’”

These diamond earrings have been in my jewelry box for a few years now. I did enjoy wearing them, for a long time. My style has changed. I haven’t worn them in ages. The diamonds are nice and sparkly; it’s a shame to have them sit unused. It’s time for them to see the light of day!

Often I hear a customer say, “I inherited my grandmother’s ring but it just sits in a drawer. I haven’t been wearing it. I always wear white gold, and her ring is yellow gold. And I just don’t like the style. I love my grandmother and I feel guilty not wearing her ring.” These thoughts often lead us to design a new piece of custom jewelry.
