A Dark Beauty

Marcel was inspired by one of his favorite periods in design history, the Arts and Crafts movement, to create this multi-gem ring.  Shaped by nature, gothic medieval architecture and a twinkle of folklore, the ring has a dark beauty that allows the gems to shine.

The idea for this ring came about when Marcel found the big, juicy amethyst glowing deep in the back of a drawer in our safe.  After exploring different colors and shapes to complement the oval amethyst, Marcel decided on an ethereal faceted moonstone, and a pair of gray spinels, to match the color of the blackened silver and accent the other gems, without taking away from them.

Marcel designed the ring using CAD technology, and the mounting was cast in sterling silver.  After our jeweler, Steve, set all the gems by hand, Marcel oxidized the ring using a special concoction to create a soft, antique finish.

The genuine amethyst weighs 3.12 carats, and has been faceted as an oval shape, with medium-deep reddish-purple color.  The genuine oval moonstone weighs .65 carats, with a blue flash of color, known as adularescence.  The two genuine round gray spinels have a total weight of .24 carats.

The ring has a double flared shank and is a finger size 7.5.  The oxidized finish will develop a lighter patina as you wear the ring.
