From the studio of Susan Mahlstedt comes this silver and gold statement pendant. Susan's workshop is in Kansas City, where she creates modern, wearable jewels with remarkable perfection and exquisite craftsmanship.
This pendant has been crafted by hand in sterling silver, to resemble the sun rising against an early morning sky. The sky is silver that has been depletion gilded - a technique in which the bright white color is worked out of the silver. A peeking sun, in 18 karat yellow gold, rises from the bottom of the pendant. Two different textures have been applied to the pendant, to represent the blazing sun and its rays.
The pendant has a fixed bail, which is topped with a single, sparkling diamond. The round diamond has been set into an 18 karat gold bezel and weighs .04 carats. The pendant is accompanied by an oxidized 18 inch silver chain, with a large lobster claw clasp.
The pendant measures 1.5 inches long by 1.25 inches wide.
