Marquise Diamond Hoops By Frederic Sage

Plante Jewelers

Did you know that the marquise-cut diamond was first commissioned by Louis XV of France to mimic the smile of his mistress, the Marquise De Pompadour?

This romantic diamond shape has yet again been re-imagined into a pair of modern hoop earrings, by designer Frederic Sage.

The earrings have been crafted in 14K white gold and have a marquise-shaped profile.  A single marquise-shaped diamond has been set into the face of each earring, while a row of tiny white diamonds runs up the back of each hoop.  The earrings have two marquise-shaped diamonds, which have a total weight of .31ct, with G-H/VS color/clarity grades.  The 12 brilliant cut round diamonds have a total weight of .16ct, with G-H/VS color/clarity grades.

The earrings have posts with lever backs, and measure just over 3/4 of an inch in length.
