Gleaming, gossamer wings of a butterfly will flutter at your ears in this pair of delicate earrings. The earrings are yellow gold vermeil (gold plated over sterling silver) and have been decorated with "plique-a-jour" French enamel. Plique-a-jour enamel is a complex technique similar to stained glass, where enamel (powdered glass) is suspended in between channels of precious metal. The butterfly wings have a gradient of clear to deep blue enamel, and earth-mined diamonds decorate the veins of the wings. A single genuine blue sapphire creates the "eye" of each wing pattern.
The earrings have French wires and the wings measure 3/4 of an inch long, not including the top wires.
