Our customer's heirloom emerald and diamond ring was much-loved.
The emerald gemstone had a dull appearance. Its surface was abraded from years of wear.
The platinum setting needed work to make it hold the emerald and diamonds securely. This once-beautiful ring was in need of tender loving care!
Our jeweler, Steve, began by removing the emerald from the ring. Our lapidary (a craftsman who specializes in the cutting and polishing of colored gemstones) repolished the crown of the emerald, creating new facets to catch the light and make it sparkle again!
While the emerald was being repolished, Steve restored the mounting. He made new prongs for the emerald and side diamonds.
He rebuilt the channels for the baguette diamonds. The undergallery, which supports the prongwork for the gemstones, was worn out under the diamonds. Steve rebuilt this area as well, and pre-polished the ring.
Now that all of the platinum work had been completed, it was time to set the emerald, and do the final polishing.
Our customer's beloved ring now looks as beautiful as it originally did in the 1920's!
