So much goes into creating a movie like Black Panther! Besides the characters and story, the entire look of the movie has to be carefully crafted. For Black Panther, the costumes would express the sophisticated culture of Wakanda, the wealthiest and most advanced country in the world.
Costume designer Ruth E. Carter knew that jewelry was an important element of the costumes, and and she chose jewelry designer Douriean Fletcher to design the jewelry for the movie.
Douriean Fletcher envisioned the jewelry as "Afro-futuristic" and she used different metals and symbols to enhance the characters' costumes. Not only did she have to imagine the jewelry and design it, she also hand made all of the jewelry!
